Experience

A background of passion.

Michael Cox has been writing professionally for over a decade.

In the high-tech realm, Michael worked as a technical writer/editor for Adobe Systems, Inc., one of the world’s largest software manufacturers. He also wrote user-interface text and messaging for Microsoft, and today he works primarily with smaller firms, assisting them with their documentation and customer communication needs. His technical communication projects have included user manuals, groundbreaking online help systems, white papers and fact sheets for software and hardware products.

Working with dozens of startup companies, he has also assumed a business writing role, creating Web copy, press releases, brochures and posters as well as compiling and editing RFPs that have secured global contracts worth millions of dollars.

As a journalist he has contributed articles, interviews and reviews to newspapers, lifestyle magazines and Web sites including The Houston Chronicle, MSN, Seattle Press and The Rocket. He contributed essays and artist biographies to the book Encyclopedia of Northwest Music (Sasquatch Press), and is the author of Fitness MasterPlan.

Before “blogging” was a word, Michael was doing just that. As Editor-in-Chief for Strikethree.com, Michael ran one of the nation’s top baseball Web sites, and appeared frequently on ESPN Radio and Sports Byline USA. His current side projects include a blog with tips for men, Tao of Bachelorhood, and projects revolving around his fitness product. He also contributes guest posts and articles around the Web.

He received his professional certificate in Technical Writing and Editing from the University of Washington’s acclaimed Human Centered Design and Engineering department and is constantly learning new technologies and strategies to better serve his clients.
